I think that getting married cost so much because that like most other things has become more and more commercial in the sense that a church and a nice reception are no longer "good enough", for lack of a better term. People want to outdo each other and get all the things that they have seen on TV. Also women are taught from childhood through TV, fairy tales and society that they have to pay the princess. Personally, I feel that if I love so much that I am willing to marry him I will get married in a pair of ripped jeans in an alley. It's not about the wedding its self the wedding is a ceremony that starts the rest of your life with someone. Babies are so expensive for the obvious reasons and well dying is so expensive for a number of reasons that I do not have time to even get into.

because these are things that nearly everyone does so those who provide services can jack the cost. Having said that, it does not have to cost a bunch to get married (I have never spent more than $400 and I have done it three times). Having a baby will always be expensive although I am told home birth is cheaper (with a midwife, of course) and if you think dying and getting married are expensive, try getting divorced. I have done it twice and it does not get any cheaper.

Look at it this way: You are investing your life----Life is an investment of time, effort, money, emotions, and physical health.

You are investing your life to a marriage, a person who will be your partner for the rest of your life. OR SHOULD BE. Then as a result of your marriage, you have children--and they will be a part of your life until you die. Which brings us to funerals. Funerals are costly because of all the certifications and restrictions our states have on what to do with a corpse. I will be cremated, my ashes mixed with flour, made into brownies, which will then be served to my two witch sisters with little flags in them that say, "BITE ME." (Just kidding, by the way).

Well getting married doesn't cost alot unless you decide you want it to.
Having a baby is costly because of our medical establishments.
Dying won't cost you a thing, only those you leave behind.

if you get married at the courthouse, it's less than $50. if you have a baby, it costs nothing if you don't go to a hospital, and when you die, who cares what it costs, you're dead!

Because people in business know that everyone wants a baby, wants to get married, and has to die. So they market it to make money for their greedy ***.

well i guess it is something most of us do... just like food , they raise the prices cause they know we have to have it.. just like gas they know you have to have it...we all have to die and so they raise the cost of the burial and caskets and all....marriage costs more to get out of than to get into ....babies are a cost all to theirselves.. cost to have them, cost to raise them, feed them, and to take proper care fo them and get all the things they need...like junk food is cheaper than food that is good for you.. which i do not think is right...they do not want you to smoke but yet patches to help quit smoking is so high....
