i was talking to the man im seeing (*jon) and after merely mentioning another man in the conversation, jon told me that he is 'in no way jealous' of this man. i wasnt even trying to make jon jealous, i have no idea why he said that. also, jon buys me expensive presents but acts like he doesnt actually love me. what do you think of this?

jealousy doesn't mean love. it's a feeling of possession. you don't have to give me more details, i think i got the point...
he buys you expensive things just to prove himself and to show you that has authority upon you. well, this guy doesn't know what love is and you very well realised that he acts like he doesn't love you actually.
and he really does not love you.
if you want a sound advice, get rid of this guy and find another one who knows how to treat a woman right and not like she was some kind of an object...

Give him time and dont mention that this is bothering you. It looks like Jon so to speak, likes you alot as he obviously got jealous. I cooled of my boyfriend and hes come running, he told me he didnt want serious so I totally backed off he cant get enough of me now.

Well it sounds a little weird to me, I would do a little investigating and see if there is a reason that jon felt the need to tell you he is not jealouse. The presents MIGHT be gifts of guilt.

Well since he just blurted out that he is not jealous when it was not called for, it is obvious that he is really jealous. I think he doesn't act as if he loves you not because he doesn't really love you but just because he might have a problem expressing himself.

He probably does care, but if he is fairly young possibly thinks that it is not manly to a/ show it and b/ that it looks a little tough and macho that he doesnt mind,when he really does c/ he doesn't care, in which case dump him.

Maybe he doesn't know how to say direct he loves you that's why he is doing it in form of buying you expensive presents. Tell him you love him and see his reaction.
