Best group...4 Horsemen, hands down. They OWNED the old NWA/WCW promotion and put WCW on the map to a point where Ted Turner ended up buying it and almost put WWE out of business.
Most entertaining group....Degeneration X. Great storylines, fun characters, and the guys were actually enjoying themselves.
Most overrated group...NWO. A combo of overacting and trying way to hard to be bad...they ended up just being a caricature.

The Horsemen were the prototype that all wrestling stables have copied from, so I guess in that sense, they were the best. However, when it was done well, the New World Order was also very good. They shocked a lot of people early on to get them to stay tuned to what they were doing. It was like reality TV three years ahead of its time, and when they took over a show, it was like, what are they going to do next?
I think the person that mentioned RTC has a good point... during an era where WWE was breeding a bunch of stripper divas, the best way to get heat was to go out there and cover the women up in burlap sacks. Honestly, I don't think they went far enough with that gimmick, and it could have been a lot cooler than they jokes (an inside joke against the Parents Television Council) they were made out to be.
It's a shame that the WWF didn't have a lot of stables in the 80s, because with the Heenan Family, the Slickster's stable, and the original Hart Foundation, there were quite a few heel groups that could have been. I know that the Hart Foundation helped each other out at times (such as the infamous moment where Bret and Neidhart held the Macho Man down for Honky Tonk Man to bash him with his guitar), but I don't think they were as all 4 one and one 4 all as the horsemen were.

The 4 Horsemen, before they started getting people like Steve McMichaels involved. When they had Flair, Anderson, Blanchard as the primary 3 members, they were the best.

I would have to go with the 4 Horsemen on this one. Especially the original 4 of Flair, Arn and Ole Anderson, and Blanchard.

There's too many young people answering this question. Abviously, they never knew the 4 Horseman. They were the best.
The best includes: Arn Anderson, Oly Anderson, Ric Flair, Chris Benoit, Tully Blanchard, Dean Malenko, & I may be forgetting a few.

Who could forget the Fabulous Freebirds. Those dudes kicked some tail. Anyone who dresses up as Santa around Christmas, jumps in the ring to celebrate with the good guy and then clocks him has got to be devious.

Degeneration X.
They had the best members, the best story lines, and of course the best music.
Have a lovely rest of the day.
