It seems that people, nationally, have come to mark the spot where a tragedy has taken place in memory of the one(s) who died or were killed at the site. Is it a good thing for the healing of the living and the immediate community of people ? I mean to say, that should'nt we be affected in ways that betters a people, conscientiuosly ?
Inwardly ? Individually ? Collectively ?
and
when did it all begin ?...Columbine ?

Thanks.

I witnessed a motorcycle accident a year ago and the gentleman died. He had a family and four young boys. They made a memorial for him where he crashed and when I visited there it was like closure for them...I think we do this as a way to honor the person but mostly for a way for us to say goodbye. I say whatever helps in the healing process....

People have been marking places of deaths far before any of our grandparents parents parents were born. I know where my grandma killed herself, and i mark that place in my mind. It might stay in my mind forever, I know its not healthy, but it is just too close to not think of.
