Because they were kids once too and if they knew then what they know now, they probably would've done a lot different, and probably don't want you to make the same mistakes (or other mistakes) that they made. But they ARE NOT always right, and they should be a little more opened minded, but understand they're just trying to protect you. My parents let me do anything I wanted to, I never got grounded, got everything I wanted, and I learned A LOT on my own. Some of which I wish I hadn't, some of which I'm glad I did, but I wish they would have protected me from some mistakes I made. Not all, but some, and that's the hardest part is knowing which mistakes you need to learn on your own, and when they need to step in and protect you. Make a compromise that if they'll start being more open minded and understand you, you'll be more open minded and understand their reasons too. Hey, everyone's been there, and no matter how old you get, NO ONE knows everything, even grown ups are still learning.

because they want there children to always do what they want. sure it starts out as the loving caring family but what happens after 10 years. parents pretty much know this and want to aviod it. really i think there is a point when your old enough for your parents to back off and let you have a taste of the real world yourself. experience really dosent matter here because they may have experinenced it so long ago.

It's their job.

They don't actually always think they're right, but they have to pretend they are in order to keep you from accidentally cutting off your arm or killing your sister or growing up to still write "are" as "r".

Now go clean your room again.

not all grown ups are right but most of the time they have had experince with what ever is going on and know what is the right choice and what is the wrong because they have don't it or known someone that did it.

we dont think we are always right. it is we are always "in the right"
we are responsible, for every act adn actions taken or not by our decisions & by our kids too. some are arrogantly ignorant doing in a bully tactic manner. if this is your situation let your closest friends know let a another relative know let the one doing it know

i think so undesirable for you. I have kinfolk issues too and that i'm counting down the days till i turn 18. i'm transferring out then. besides, merely hide your stuff, and ignore your dad.

Because they feel that they have more life experiences then younger people. What they fail to realize is that is true but more then not you need to learn your own life lessons.

because they have more experiences and have learned more lessons in life. so they start thinking that just because they're older, they know more. which is true in most cases but sometimes, not so much..
