Yes they are making a movie about Janis Joplin. Alanis Morriset is supposed to play her. Lindsey Lohen is trying to get it but I don't think she is the type. Alanis could easily play Janis.

The Pearl was loosely based on her life, but there has been no real documentary-type movie like for Jim Morrison as of yet that I know of. And I think since I really loved Janis Joplin I would have heard about it.
However, there was a made-for-tv documentary movie: Intimate Portrait: Janis Joplin, 2000.

The Rose (1979) is more of less based on the life of Janis Joplin

There is a movie being made and Renee Zellwegger is supposed to play the part of Janis.

Yes, a documentary of her life,can't remember the name of it. Go to a video or music store. NOT Sam Goody- I went there looking for Molly Hatchet CD and they didn't even know what the HLL i was talking about. (sang"Flirtin' w/disaster")

I know there's a play based on her life and music that's touring right now. It's called "Love, Janice"...I missed it when it was in my area, but I hear it's good.
