Greetings:

Broadly defined, slavery is one dominating influence over another.

To the extent that the USSR deprived individuals of their inalienable fundamental personal human rights and freedoms to that extent it was slavish.

Slavery, by definition, impinges on human growth and development, and, by implication, is detrimental to the evolution of any society where it exists in any kind or degree.

This does not imply however, that the mentality for the good old USSR does not exist. It certainly does, because there'll always be cycles in human evolution when authoritarian regimes exist, and then are swept aside tsunami-like by the inevitable wheel of change making way for new forms, new structures.

Peace,
Freedom

Yah now that you mention it.

Most of the nukes that countries have are either the former Soviets (sold when their country collapsed) or versions of Soviet technology!!

The Cold War was scary too. Assassinations, spys, threats and secrets. In retrospect it doesn't seem so bad but who woulda known??

I do remember Nikolai Volkov or whatever from WWF

The only thing I miss was the national anthem heard at the Olympics. It was really a good song and inspiring. Of course, the Olympics doesn't play any other national anthem than ours anymore at least not on TV coverage.
