Longest Day On Earth
The tidal bulges in the Earth's oceans, caused by the gravitational effect of the Moon, are gradually transferring momentum from the Earth's rotation to the Moon's orbit. As a result, the Earth's rotation is slowing at a rate of around 0.02 seconds per century and each day is fractionally longer than the day before. Therefore, the longest day on Earth is always today.
TO MIKE 3 POSTS DOWN:
I have a website where I got my info from. I'm not referring to the days of the year and how much sunlight is in each, I'm talking about the length of the whole day from 0:00 to 24:00. Plus is depends on where you are on the earth for the longest day. It is June 21st, but to determine how much sunlight there is all depends on where you take that record from. The amount of sunlight in the longest day will vary from place to place, but it will still be the longest day regardless.
We just simply have different view points.

The most recent Midsummer day. The Earth's spin is slowing down gradually. So the longest day ever recorded in the Northern Hemisphere was June 21 2005, and down here in the Southern Hemisphere it was December 21 2005.

At both Poles, a sunup-to-sundown day lasts more than six months. Because Earth reaches perihelion (nearest the Sun) in January, the longest day occurs at the North Pole, since its "day" occurs when the Earth is moving more slowly in its orbit.
If we consider the effects of atmospheric refraction, the upper edge of the Sun rose at the North Pole on March 19, 2006 and will not set until September 25, a duration of 190 days.

Joke Q: When was the longest day in the Bible? A: The day Adam was created because there was no Eve. In the days of Joshua, Jehovah caused the sun and the moon to stand still in an astounding demonstration of power. (Joshua 10:12-14)

Joshua 10:12-14 Amplified Bible 12Then Joshua spoke to the Lord on the day when the Lord gave the Amorites over to the Israelites, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, be silent and stand still at Gibeon, and you, moon, in the Valley of Ajalon! 13And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the nation took vengeance upon their enemies. Is not this written in the Book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of the heavens and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day. 14There was no day like it before or since, when the Lord heeded the voice of a man. For the Lord fought for Israel.

At the solistices (beginning of summer and winter), the sun is up all day at the poles...
Summer begins around June 21, that's when the sun is up all day north of the Arctic Circle towards the North Pole.
Winter begins around December 21...so this applies to the Antarctic Circle and the South Pole.
