Do I need Firewall with all the protective devices that Verizon Yahoo use,?

At the present time I also have AVG along with the protective devices that Verizo -Yahoo employs

Yes you do. I have a feeling you don't want to pay for it so try zone alarm - it is free to non-business users and it does do a good job.
