She is an evil woman and does what she can to make his life hell. I would like to do something cool for him to lift his spirits.

Ooooooh, spend the day doing something HE likes to make him feel good.
Play pool, volleyball, pamper him......
I don't want to rain on your parade, but his kids will probably be the only thing that makes him happy that day, you can do your best to let him know you care.
No bad talk about the ex though! Just listen to him gripe, don't join in.

Buy each child a toy that they would like, take him to a place he's spoken about that brings great memories of his children and tell him, these are for your or if you consider them your children too, our children and tell him we will give them the toys when they get back and then take him out to dinner or even make him dinner that night...

If you are a good cook and know His favorite meal then do that. Add candles and Champagne. Add soft music Treat Him like God. If you can't cook take him to His favorite restaurant. Good Luck!!!!

take him out and get his mind off his children,not just a resturant,somewhere new!go to a carnaval,you'll have fun.you and him can go and buy tons of stuff for his children,then when they come home you can see her face when they say you and him are the best ever!

all day do things he enjoys and at night plan a hott night filled with lots of sex and fun.. remind him his kids love him and things will be ok be there for him as u should be

well your not his father,so relly you cant replace that nor schould you try to,he will have to come to terms with what has happened,and allthough its nice you want to try to cheer him up,he still needs to work through his loss,just be suportive,
