I'm talking about cinemas in Singapore where there are cup holders on every seat. Am I suppose to use the left one or the right?

It should be right. Social Dining etiquitte says that drinks are always placed on the right hand side.

Of course if you and your date are watching the movie together, you should just put it in the center of both of you and share it. That'll be sweet.

I've always looked at the end seat to see which side the holder is on; ie; if you are facing the screen and the aisle seat on the left end of the row has the holder on the left, you would use the left holder. If the holder is only on the right, you would use the right holder.

I'm in the US but there is a cup holder in every seat here too. I always use the one to the left. I don't think there is a hard and fast rule though.

Before you enter the row, see which side the end seat has the holder. If it only has one on the inside that means thats the side to use. If it has 2 holders that means the outside one is the one to use.

Depends on which way the cup holder are arranged. if left to right, use the left if, opposite , use the right.

I would use the one that the seat next to me isn't using! Actually, since we rarely go to movies alone, I would use the one between me and my husband because then we could share. Those drinks cost an arm and a leg!

i'd say that depends on whether your right-handed or left-handed. where i live there are cupholders on both sides too; i use the right one because i'm right-handed. if you're traveling to singapore and are concerned about customs, i would consult a travel guide.
