I am an Indian and my skin color is somewhat wheatish. I go out in the sun every sunday pretty much from morning and in the afternoon sun. What can I apply to avoid tanning.

Don't go tanning, it's like paying for skin cancer. My best advice to you is to just enjoy your natural skin tone - I'm pale as a ghost, and I'm cool with that now. (I really don't think that being tan is going to make people like me more.) But if you really need to be tan, you can go to the drugstore and find all kinds of tanning creams and lotions. Jergens has a really good one that builds color slowly and it looks natural. Tanning salons also sometimes offer spray-on tans, which can be good for a special occasion. But really, don't tan by the sun or a booth - your skin will thank you for it!

I know that sun block does not keep my kids from tanning they tan in the sun easy. So I would say your best protection would be to cover up and wear a hat.

don't go for the suntan lotion,,go for the sun BLOCK and apply often. i don't tan anymore because of the risk of skin cancer and of course for vanity reasons also,,i don't want too many wrinkles later on. but i use to go out alot when i was younger and now i have sunpoisoning ,,if i go out in the sun for too long my arms will start to itch alot and to avoid that i use a sunblock...

Not much will prevent tanning. Tightly woven fabrics and a high SPF are your best bets. A wide brim hat made of canvas can help protect your face. Thin or loosly woven fabrics offer the least protection.

Try sunblock... a hat ... clothing... nothing will keep you completely from tanning a little but every precaution you take is a step towards not tanning.
