Sorry guys, I should have been more clear with my question..... I've had LimeWire as long as I've had my computer, about 2 years. This window just popped up the most recent time I tried to use it and I don't know why. I don't think I did anything differently on my computer.....

For windows XP:
my computer>
network places>
network connections>
right click on the adapter (if your hard wired or wireless) - click properties
click on the advanced tab
click settings on firewall
then off.

Though I suggest using an alternate source that has less spyware viruses. If you preform this action using this software, you may be overrun with spyware (Ive seen it 1000's of times)

If you want a better way to get your stuff without the hastle of spyware and viruses lookinto using Mininova.org as the torrent list site. You can download the software to use that site, i personally use the client "ABC yet another bittorrent" which can be found by doing a google search for it. Once thats downloaded and installed, merely find the item your looking for on mininova.org and it will setup a download for you once you click on the links.

Good luck in any case :D

This will show you how. However I do not recommend it. What you should try doing is moving your shared folder somewhere safe, and then completely delete Limewire. That includes uninstalling any registry keys for it and restarting the system. With this done, you can install the program again, and during the installation, you should get a window that asks if you would like to configure your firewall to allow Limewire to communicate back and forth. Just hit allow and you should be ok.

I am sure that there is a much easier way that you can just go in there and add Limewire to an exception list, but I am way to tired to try and find out. So again, if you are sure you want to disable the firewall, here is a guide:

Dont use Limewire. It will cause more trouble than do any good. If you still want to here goes ..

If you are using a third party firewall software you'll have to open the program and disable the firewall from there. If you want to disable the windows firewall go to control panel and then open windows firewall from there and disable it.

If you are using Windows XP, click start and click on control panel, you will see an icon for firewall, click on that then turn off the fire wall. This may have a not wanted experiance with your computer though. Your system will be open for intrusion.

Never turn off your windows Firewall without having a REALLY good third party firewall, virus program installed. If you HAVE to use Limewire, Turn it off intermitanly and then to it back onto reduce viruses, adware, spyware...etc...etc...

Which firewall prog r u using?
Whatever prog it may be, you will find your firewall icon in ur system tray (i.e near system clock) right click the firewall icon and you will surely have the option "Shutdown " or "disable " thats it.

If it is win xp firewall then follow the instruction given by gothicdeity

Best of luck

Hopefully nobody will tell you how. That is the same as putting up a sign that says "Please destroy my PC ASAP."
