the **** blew out and i don't want to throw out my lovely monitor. is there a way to fix it? maybe i can open the bad-boy up and replace it? yes? no? maybe so?

Yes, its delicate, but Ive replaced many...Take screen apart, and follow the 2 wires to the lamp, buried in the frame of the screen. I get my lamps from digikey.com, around $10 -15 each. But you must measure it to the millimeter for length and diamiter, thats how theyre listed. Most are as thin as spagetti, and can break very easily..also, make sure the hi voltage inverter works, cause it may not be the lamp itself...good luck.
