It is due to the high fees being charged by both Ebay and Paypal. For example a seller would have to pay for an insertion fee and when he sells an item, the Ebay gets a percentage of the amount paid by the buyer then Paypal would also have to charge a certain amount when the buyer pays via the Paypal service. The seller has to pay 3 certain amount of charges with a business account.

I believe the main reason is because of the fees involved. If you sell many items through eBay, these fees can add up over the long run. Also, the paypal database was fraudulently accessed a couple of years ago and many paypal users got scared off. Actually, since paypal got hacked, they have been more secure than prior to getting hacked as they have locked the doors much tighter.

PayPal is not a real bank. PayPal does not support the buyer or seller. They just keep their HIGH fees for themselves.

I paid $25 for an item I never received. When I filed a complaint I only got $1.50 back. But don't worry - I won't spend it all in one place!

Their commissions are expensive, especially if you are selling inexpensive items.
