taste it. If it's salty, it's sodium chloride. If it's chalky, it's calcuim carbonate.

You can also try gently crushing it. Salt, since it's crystalline, will withstand compressive forces better than calcium carbonate (essentially limestone). The calcium carbonate with powder easier and leave a smear.

Easily done at home using vinegar.
The carbonate will fizz as carbon dioxide is produced.
You can tell them apart visually, look for cubic crystals of sodium chloride.
