I see so many people use the "love it or leave it" defense when debating with a Liberal. First of all, we don't hate America...secondly, we love it so much that we are fighting for a change. But I was thinking about this recently. If Rush Limbaugh had his way and all of the Libs that voted against GW Bush in the previous two elections were to be moved out of the country, what nation would you have left? You would have half of the country (voters) leaving. What would that do to the economy? What about immigrants? I'm interested in your thoughts. (And yes, Limbaugh actually did say that. I believe it was after the '00 election.)

I was saying that I hear the "love it or leave it" defense. I wasn't saying that all conservatives use it. Liberal haters are the strong far right that despises anything that has to do with a liberal idea. Perfect examples are Rush and Ann Coulter...I see she has already been brought up in an answer. My point is this: It takes many different people to make this country great, and when we start wanting people to leave the country because they have different political views, that is when this country will go to pot. That's all.

Askthetough: First of all, you weren't listening. I never said that ALL of the conservatives hate liberals. Just read my previous additional comments. I'm not disagreeing that the libs have problems. We all do. Reps got us into a bit of a mess here and they aren't coming up with anything. If a Dem comes up with a plan, the reps either ignore it or steal it and make it their own so they look better. THE REPUBLICANS ARE IN POWER AND CONTROL WHAT GOES ON IN THIS COUNTRY!!! Democrats can only give whatever ideas they may have (however few) and watch them get shot down.
Secondly: You never answered my question. How would the economy be if all the Gore/Kerry supporters left the country? I wasn't wanting to get into a huge Rep vs. Dem debate here. Phillip has the best idea so far...although I wouldn't have gone so sarcastic. But he has numbers that show my point.

Here's a nice little letter as to what would happen if the blue and red states split:

Dear Red States,

We’ve decided we’re leaving. We intend to form our own country, and we’re taking the other Blue States with us. In case you aren’t aware, that includes Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and all the Northeast. We believe this split will be beneficial to the nation, and especially to the people of the new country of New California.

To sum up briefly:

You get Texas, Oklahoma and all the slave states. We get stem cell research and the best beaches.

We get Elliot Spitzer. You get Ken Lay.

We get the Statue of Liberty. You get Dollywood.

We get Intel and Microsoft. You get WorldCom.

We get Harvard. You get Ole’ Miss.

We get 85 percent of America’s venture capital and entrepreneurs. You get Alabama.

We get two-thirds of the tax revenue, you get to make the red states pay their fair share.

Since our aggregate divorce rate is 22 percent lower than the Christian Coalition’s, we get a bunch of happy families. You get a bunch of single moms.

Please be aware that Nuevo California will be pro-choice and anti-war, and we’re going to want all our citizens back from Iraq at once. If you need people to fight, ask your evangelicals. They have kids they’re apparently willing to send to their deaths for no purpose, and they don’t care if you don’t show pictures of their children’s caskets coming home. We do wish you success in Iraq, and hope that the WMDs turn up, but we’re not willing to spend our resources in Bush’s quagmire.

With the Blue States in hand, we will have firm control of 80 percent of the country’s fresh water, more than 90 percent of the pineapple and lettuce, 92 percent of the nation’s fresh fruit, 95 percent of America’s quality wines (you can serve French wines at state dinners), 90 percent of all cheese, 90 percent of the high tech industry, most of the U.S. low-sulfur coal, all living redwoods, sequoias and condors, all the Ivy league schools, Seven Sister schools, plus Stanford, Cal Tech and MIT.

With the Red States, on the other hand, you will have to cope with 88 percent of all obese Americans (and their projected health care costs), 92 percent of all U.S. mosquitoes, nearly 100 percent of the tornadoes, 90 percent of the hurricanes, 99 percent of all Southern Baptists, virtually 100 percent of all tele-evangelists, Rush Limbaugh, Bob Jones University, Clemson and the University of Georgia and the vast majority of illiterate Americans also known as Arkansas.

We get Hollywood and Yosemite, thank you.

Additionally, 38 percent of those in the Red states believe Jonah was actually swallowed by a whale, 62 percent believe life is sacred unless we’re discussing the death penalty or gun laws, 44 percent say that evolution is only a theory, 53 percent that Saddam was involved in 9/11 and 61 percent of you crazy b*****ds believe you are people with higher morals than we lefties.

Peace out,
Blue States

I'm a liberal Democrat and I'm proud of it! If the likes of Rush Limbaugh had their way and we liberals were run out of the country, the U.S. would become a militaristic and a**-backward theocracy. Think about it. People like Rush Limbaugh don't believe that the separation of church and state is established in the Constitution. In that case, everything would be run by Christian fundamentalist nutcases. Also, our education system would go down the tubes. Right-wingers don't like public schools, and if it were up to them, only the children of the very wealthy would have access to an adequate education. Also, since the nutcases don't believe in Darwinian theory, science in the U.S. would go down the tubes. Women and minorities wouldn't have rights, because the wackos don't believe in affirmative action. If anything, they believe that anyone who isn't white, Christian, or male shouldn't occupy any positions of power. If it were up to them, women would stay barefoot and pregnant and blacks and other minorities would only work s**t jobs. Also, Republicans don't like taxes, especially when the rich have to pay them. If it were up to them, only the poor and the middle class would pay taxes. And since the Republicans believe that tax money should only fund the military and the corporations, we would have a strong military and strong corporations. The rich would get richer and the poor would get poorer. More people would go hungry and more people would be left homeless. Also, the infrastructure would go to ruin. And anyone affected by a natural disaster like an earthquake, hurricane, tornado, or flood would be screwed. What happened after Hurricane Katrina was only a little taste of this.

Having only Republicans in power would be like time-travelling to medieval Europe.

I'm not sure who you are referring to when you say "liberal haters". I don't listen to Rush Limbaugh - I don't like contention. However, I would probably be considered a very strong conservative. I don't use the "love it or leave it" defense, as you put it, but I have pointed out on at least one other question that people who criticize the United States government may not realize just how much freedom they have when they do so. I like to see corruption found out and corrected. My family spent 15 years fighting corrupt lawyers and bankers and only found 1 female judge at the end of it all who was able to see the years of legal manipulation for what it was. So if you are working on exposing corruption, keep working on it. If you are merely criticizing leaders for a war that you do not fully understand, it might be better to pray that people start settling down, so that the U.S. troops can all be sent home. That is just one example, I mean. Have a happy day.

We don't hate Liberals, we only want to see you come up with your own thoughts and ideas to help the country. Since the creation of the Democratic party, it has been an "Anti" political party. Do the research.
Throughout the Dem. party's history, there have been some (D) leaders who have created/written some great change that Repubs supported. **See Civil Rights Movement, legislation during JFK era, yet a higher % of Repubs voted for Civil Rights than Dems.??? Please comment on that.

Repubs, Independents, Conservs, etc only want the Libs to offer something positive rather than making EVERYTHING out to be negative and Repub's fault. COME ON, Lib ranting isn't helping. If this admin. is making the "WRONG" decisions, please offer your "CORRECT" plan of action. I'll listen, but so far, LIBERALS have yet to agree with each other or even offer up a realistic solution... TO ANY THING, NOTHING. Meanwhile the world turns and you've left us Repub/Inde's, with our necks on the line, you take NO responsibility, offer no solid plan, you sit back and criticize decisions made by others.

LEAD, FOLLOW, or GET the F out of the Way.
Your Criticism is appreciated, but what we could really use is some cooperation, understanding and realistic solutions. Libs state daily, "Bush has no plan for a withdrawal from Iraq. Ok, but the Dems don't have one either. Since we are on the topic of withdrawal, the Dems put troops in Korea 1950's, US troops are still there, Dems put troops in Viet Nam 1960's, we lost thousands of US troops. Dems put troops in Bosnia, 1990's, US troops are still there too. Liberals have no withdrawal plan in any of those areas, yet complain that Repubs have no plan for Iraq...
Easy Glass House.

Bad Mouthing Americans isn't helping Repubs, Dems, or Inde's.

Liberals better start offering some "FRESH" ideas, or they'll take down the Dems. Not something Repubs want to see, but as the # of Dem reps who only offer "Anti-Repub" ideas and are wrong, making the Repub ideas Right, your party is doomed.
You're smart, get involved in US government, waste more time coming up with good solutions rather than good conspiracy theories w/o facts. Demand more from your liberal reps. Their job is not Talk Talk politics, it's to Write Write legislation that will HELP Americans. PleplePlease consider this.

Ok this is my strive. I will reply each and every query intelligently so long as you honestly consider approximately the solutions I provide. a million. Yes I do consider that Bush has performed terrible in Iraq and now, for the reason that of our competitive movements the sector is extra volitile and there are extra nations that detest America now than earlier than Bush took workplace. If we appear on the War in Iraq, it's it appears that evidently Bush's fault that he is not taking accountability for. I feel that if Gore might have received the primary election and he was once given the erroneous intelligence, we might be in a bigger situation for the reason that Gore might have labored with different nations and the UN to disarm Saddam. Instead Bush went in there himself, weapons ablazing. I don't feel there's a sound resolution if you want to paintings in Iraq now, however any person has to take accountability for placing us there. And no, there particularly is not some thing that Bush can do bigger than how he's dealing with N. Korea. HOWEVER, Bush's Iraq debocle has given him no leverage while running with the opposite global leaders, so it's his fault that there is not particularly any answers with N. Korea. Same is going for Iran. two. Unemployment Rate. Can't particularly *****... three. Economy developing. This is after the financial system hit a hunch so of path the financial system is developing. I simply am no longer certain if now we have the Republicans to thank. Besides, with their spending and accelerated tax cuts, the surpluss that Clinton left has become a deficit. And Republicans have been intended to be fiscally conservative... four. No assaults on American soil. Yes, however utilizing that good judgment is incorrect. I can simply say that nine/eleven occurred for the duration of Bush's management, so as a consequence, this can be a MORE harmful situation. But that's the effortless method out. The extra inspiration scary reaction might factor to the truth that a million. There are extra individuals that detest us now than earlier than (N. Korea and Iran desire nuclear technological know-how to safeguard themselves from us) two. Iraq is a coaching floor for terrorists which are busy refining their tacticts in opposition to our squaddies. The management has been competent to deflect a few new terrorist assaults, I am certain. But I am no longer certain that they're diong any bigger than John Kerry might have. five. What do you desire me to mention approximately this?? I consider we might be in a bigger situation. A situation in which the federal government would not dispose of our rights, a situation in which there might be much less corruption, a situation in which senators would not duvet up makes an attempt to sexually abuse pages. Thats the situation America might be if Kerry did win in 04. There are many factors to vote Democrat this election day, adding identical rights and females rights. These are only a few of why the Republicans don't seem to be the first-rate for the activity. By the way in which, how are you able to name us USA haters?? That turns out alternatively narrowminded peculiarly once we combat for freedoms and the Republicans combat to take them away (Wire tapping, homosexual marriage, and so forth.)

I guess we'd be left with half the people we had before, but half of them would be complaining about the person they voted for ( Bush has a 29% approval rating). And Rush Limbaugh would still be on drugs, because there wouldn't be any liberals to call him out. Oh yeah, and they won't have a democrat to come in and fix their mess again.

The right wing "Christians" run the right wing party. these people are like sheep. Whatever the other one said is a good idea. Cattle.
The right will hate anything that they understand to go against the way things are now. They fear change and growth. If we change then there is a possibility that rich white men wont be in charge of everything anymore.
It's just a fight for power.

Liberalism is an ideology, philosophy, and political tradition that holds liberty as the primary political value.[1] Broadly speaking, liberalism seeks a society characterized by freedom of thought for individuals, limitations on power, especially of government and religion, the rule of law, the free exchange of ideas, a market economy that supports relatively free private enterprise, and a transparent system of government in which the rights of minorities are guaranteed. In modern society, liberals favour a liberal democracy with open and fair elections, where all citizens have equal rights by law and an equal opportunity to succeed[2]. Liberalism rejected many foundational assumptions which dominated most earlier theories of government, such as the Divine Right of Kings, hereditary status, and established religion. Fundamental human rights that all liberals support include the right to life, liberty, and property. In many countries, "modern" liberalism differs from classical liberalism by asserting that government provision of some minimal level of material well-being takes priority over freedom from taxation. Liberalism has its roots in the Western Enlightenment, but the term now encompasses a diversity of political thought, with adherents spanning a large part of the political spectrum, from left to right. In the context of economics, the term "liberalism" refers to economic liberalism, which is associated with the political ideology of liberalism itself.

I don't see much of the allegedly widespread 'love it or leave it' defense. I see more of the 'shut up, get the facts and grow up' defense to liberals. Or the 'why don't you actually read the constitution, you idiot' defense.

I don't listen to Rush so I wouldn't know if he said such a thing. He certainly doesn't set conservative policy, and he doesn't speak for me.
