Help for what? Scar tissue-yes. I had some injected to help my c-section scar last week I had a big bump where the scar tissue had built up, it's already gone way down.
Or for pain, yes, my husband works in physical therapy, and yes it can be used for pain.
It can have side effects though

Only temporarily. You can go to a physiotherapist or better yet to a Registered Massage therapist and get your scar tissue worked on (using a technique called Cyriax Frictioning) and reduced so that it does not come back as with a repetative strain injury. Cortisone decreases inflammation but the inflammation will always come back if bad habits are not changed.

haha, help for what??? cortisone is a good working med. helping in all kinds of med situations.... but taking too much can result into your suprarenal capsule gland stopping its work, your tissue begins to fill up w/ water,.....
so def. go and ask your doc before taking cortisone for whatever you might need it for! most of the time there are other helpful meds with similar effects but less side effects like cortisone's got them!

Yes, cortisone injections are an anti-inflamatory. they work to reduce swelling, which then makes the pain go away.

They simply suppress the inflammatory response, in a way similar to your body's own anti-inflammatory secretion cortisol. The problem is that they generally give you 50 times a physiologic dose, causing your body to limit its own production. Chronic cortisone therapy can cause too many diseases to name, e.g. bone loss, hair loss, increased risk for heart disease.

YES! They are a Godsend to me. I wouldn't be walking today or able to lift my left arm if it wasn't for those puppies. You have to be careful though and not get them more than two years in a row. Your body needs a break from them. I'm pretty sure you can go back on them after I think a two or three year break.
