carefully chose those who consider themselves as your "friends" but who will solely be around you for gaining any substantial advantage.
if you are a friendly, generous, good looking and with a sucessful job, be even more cautious with the vultures who will be your friends only by interest.
sometimes to find a real friend, one would need almost to disguise one self as a poor socially discarded individual and then see who will really stick by your side.
at that moment you can disclose your real self and buy the good friend say a car for christmas !!!----just kidding?

Friendship is a lot overrated. The people that say that they want to be your friend are after something besides friendship they want someone that can take the blame for things that they do and they will take you to the mat for the slightest infraction on there time.
I would rather be friends with dogs, At least they show true friendship and only ask to be fed and loved in exchange.

I think friendship is great. i have been best friends with my BF since Fifth grade. Of course we have had our differences , our fights, even times when we didn't talk, but we always came back to each other. I could not imagine my life without her. we have both agreed that we are each others soul mate. (even though she is married) So for all you who say you can't keep a friend or friendship is overrated, you just haven't found your match. Friendships are blessings so treasure them always. Whether it is one or ten.

Friends, I mean one or two folks you can trust completely, are a rare and precious commodity. But each of us desperately need to have at least one someone we can share anything with and know that our thoughts and ideas are safe. A confidant, an ally, a silent partner sometimes.
Good friends are hard to come by indeed so treasure them when you find them. It seems that we may only be allotted a few in our lifetime. Maybe even only one true "friend".
If someone calls me "friend" I accept the responsibility that comes with that high honor and status.

its something necessary in life knowing you can't tell your family everything... well most of the time. friendship is trust. its love. and a different kind of love then a boyfriend/ girlfriend or family. it takes a long time to develop a friendship but in the end... it's worth it.

It's a nice idea, but I have not been successful at keeping friends. I know a lot of people, and I get along with everyone, but every time I let myself get close enough to someone to actually call them a FRIEND, they always end up letting me down or betraying me. I think it's better to have acquaintences, and of course family.

It's the best thing in the world when it works and the worst when it fails. I ask nothing from my friends but loyalty and honesty, and I'll give them anything they need in return.
It doesn't work so well sometimes...
