My car window was broken, when the guy came out to fix it, there was glass left on the ground. I said won't cars get flats from that, and he said "Can't get a flat from that kind of glass, it just shatters even more" Sounds to me like he was just being too lazy to sweep the ground.

The tempered safety glass in windshields is designed to break up into small pieces with fewer sharp edges. Try picking some of it up -- do you see any long shards that could manage to puncture the thick rubber of your tire treads? Any that could cut you deeply?

That's why he wasn't too concerned about it.

He was right, it just goes into smaller pieces. The only way you could get a flat tire from safety glass is if your tires were pretty much bald to begin with.

you can run over an upright broken bottle with no effect. the tyres of today have several layers of different matials ranging from rubber to wire weave canvas and in most cases a steel belt made of tightly woven steel wires and the hole thickness is abour 10mm

i thank that you can get a flat tire because it's glass. and glass is sharp no matter what kind it is!

I agree...he should have swept up his mess. Some bare foot child could end up with glass in his/her feet!
