If she is receiving a camera how about something to go with it, such as a camera case, photo album, or scrap booking supplies.

I am a big fan of gift certificates. We are often given gifts from well meaning people with ideas of things we may want or need, but in reality it may not be what would be most practicle in our lives at that time. If you give her something she can spend herself she can decide what she really needs. If you think of what hints you've received about your gift, she thinks you need something replaced and you don't. She may be replacing a dress that you got a stain on when you don't really need another dress. Yet if she got you a gift certificate to the mall you could buy a new chew toy for the dog which is something you need to get now (I don't know).
As others have suggested a day away from the kids is always something parents enjoy, no matter how much they love the little ones. Offer to take her out shopping when she spends money. Just make sure that no matter how the money is spent, you don't make negative comments as it is all about her doing what is important to her, not what you think is.

Happy birthday! How about a gift certificate for a mani/pedi.....you can go with her and arrange for your brother to watch the kids, or let her go alone and you watch them! I am 30 with a 6-yr-old and a trip to the nail salon alone is great!

Happy Birthday sweetie-Hope you enjoy it and many,many more!!! Get her some flowers with some balloons tied in them. Their not real expensive and are sure to brighten up her day!! (And her kids can play with the balloons!!!!) You can't go wrong doing this!!

you can simply bring a real nice thing for her kids.. mothers usually would like that if they were nice :P
or you can ask your boy friend about bringing some thing that has to do with the camera he got her !!!
