It definitely is NOT the Masons. As a Mason myself, I can attest to that. I'm busy enough with my own job. Add to that the responsibility of doing charity work and running the local lodge, and I have absolutely no time to run the country.

We Masons are a NON political organization. We have no interest in government, except to obey the laws of the government under which we reside. We are only interested in helping others through charity and through improving ourselves.

The decisions in the country are made by the exact people that you think make them, the president, vice-president, congress, and the supreme court, followed by each state's government.

Karl Christian Rove (born December 25, 1950) is U.S. President George W. Bush's Deputy Chief of Staff, heading the Office of Political Affairs, the Office of Public Liaison, and the Office of Strategic Initiatives at the White House. For most of his career prior to his employment at the White House, Rove has been a political consultant.

Rove's election campaign clients have included George W. Bush (2000 and 2004 U.S. President; 1994 and 1998 Texas Governor), John Ashcroft (1994 U.S. Senate), Bill Clements (1986 Texas Governor), Sen. John Cornyn, Gov. Rick Perry (1990 Texas Agriculture Commissioner), and Phil Gramm (1982 U.S. House, 1984 U.S. Senate).

Rove has often been the target of adverse commentary by critics of the Bush administration. For example, for more than a year and leading into 2006, Rove had been under a cloud of intense media speculation and suspicion when he was accused by Joseph C. Wilson and others of criminal culpability in the "Plame affair". On June 12, 2006, as reported by an Associated Press wire story of June 14, "Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald informed Rove attorney Robert Luskin that there would be no charges..." [1]

Rove's domestic policy portfolio was limited on April 19, 2006, to concentrate on Republican election strategies for November. He retains his White House office, job titles, and security clearance.

Mr. Rove has appeared in the news media as being the brains behind some of the most critical decision-making for the US.
Dick Cheney, also provides the president with sensitive guidance and advice.

A LOT of people make the decisions in the USA. Traditionally, there are three branches of government: the legislative, the executive, and the judicial. There is supposed to be a checks and balances system, but since Bush has been in office, executive power has expanded.

Major corporations and lobbyists also play a crucial role, because they influence the people occupying all three branches of government. Labor unions also play a role, but not as much as the corporations. If I remember correctly, it was Deep Throat who said, "Money talks, bulls**t walks."

Easy, the people elect their leaders and they then vote on that. However, Judges are now starting to take away that right by overturning laws. For example five states have voted on a constitutional amendment in their state and after being passed (with over a 50% majority) different judges then struck them down as unconstitutional under the USA constitution. Also twhat happens when people elect someone who doesn’t live up to their expectations. Therefore, in short; people make the decisions but activist judges and wayward senators/representatives can change these desires to fit their personal desires.

We all know the president doesn't run the country,
big business and politicians with a special interest in them do. Plus I'm sure a little clandestine organization, like a "majestic 12" run things as well.

Follow the money, find the King. Advance Capitalism dictates financial rulers, vis-a-vis those that fund the parties, especially the GOP. Democracy has been subverted by corporate feudalism.

Depends on who you talk to. Some say Dick Cheney, some say we do. Then there are those people who like conspiracies who say the Masons.
