There are hundreds of books on language algorithms and it's a basic course of study in most university CS programs. I would personally recommend studying design patterns and analysis patterns. When in doubt, keep logic simple that is usually the best policy.

Out of the box is overrated. Build your project assuming your assumptions are going to change.
