Well if we do get a drought this summer, plus the hosepipe ban then there'll be no point colouring the brown patches - maybe it'll be better getting a brown spray to cover the green!

You can buy spray paint... but it will wear away in a few days... The dark spots are not from the dog...actually it makes the lawn grow, it's a fertilizer. you can buy some stuff to make your lawn grow green.

Do you mean PAINT? You want to paint patches of your lawn green? I guess if you could match the color and the texture of the grass, you could get away with it - but be aware of two things.
1. Your neighbors might laugh at you.
2. When the grass grows, and you mow it, you will have patches again, and you will have to paint them again.

The better idea would be to water the lawn more, and pour a watering can full of water over the area straight after your dog has piddled - this will dilute the acidic effect on the lawn.

I have this problem, and the easiest way to solve it is to by a roll of new turf.
Cut out the brown bits from your grass, and then cut out a piece (the same size) from the new turf and fill in the old hole.
Make sure you water it regularly and in no time, the new filled in bits will merge with the old surrounding grass and you won't notice a difference. :))
