Instead of calling it "marriage" (man and woman), call it "butt buddies". Problem solved.

Good question, the question is, should gay marriage be a social issue or a religious one. As not all people are Chrisitans and believe in the Bible, what do we do? Your correct, the Bible clearly says men shall not lay with men, and women shall not lay with women. The Bible tells us this is a sin agianst God, and his plan. The reasons God made women was for a mate for Adam, therefore he never intended for men to be together intimatly, so religiously the answer to your question is no. Gay Marriage according to the word of God, is not to be done, HOWEVER, the Bible also tells us that God gave his children, free will. I believe being gay is a choice not a chemical embalance, or what not. Socially, it too is wrong I guess because people refuse to accept it--much to do with the Bible. But to answer your question from a non-biased standpoint, there is something called seperation of Church and State in this counrty, therefore based on that, we cant really enfringe on the rights of others. We can pray for them, but we cant tell them how to believe or how to love. Good question, thanks it got me thinking.

We are not a theocracy, so it would be OK to have a law at odds with the bible, though I'm not sure the bible actually says "not to be gay". I'm pretty sure it says to stone a woman for adultery though. That would be murder according to our law.

To answer you're question, I believe that the word marriage should be left to the churches, temples, and mosques to "sanctify", and should be taken off of all governmental/legal documents. It should be replaced by the words civil unions on the aforementioned documents, and should be open to any two consenting adults (relatives excluded) that want to be joined as one for the rest of their lives.

No gay marriage, but I think some kind of civil union is in order. If people are so committed to each other that they stay together for years then it only makes sense to have some kind of acknowledgment of that commitment. If one is in the hospital, the other can't see him because they are not immediate family. This is crazy. Gays are not mean, terrible people. They should have some help here. Just not marriage.

The bible says a lot of things. Should we pick and choose what to follow and not follow?

Gay marriage should be allowed. What is wrong with two people who love each other?

If people are going to quote the bible for reasons not to do things, then maybe they should follow everything it says not to do.

Sorry to rant. It just bothers me when people use the bible to decide others lives.

bible does not say that, the context that man shall not lie with man was because the women weren't being satified.really.

As far as marriage...i was for domestic partnerships until i heard the argument that

Although marriage is preformed in a religious cermony, church wedding, temple, ect

it is a legal agreement. Therefore everyone must be treated equal in the eyes of the law.

For example you need a licence to get married..a legal document, and when you get divorced you do not go to church to get divorced you go to the law.
Under law then yes Gays deverse the same.

So in conclusion if you believe in the equality in the US, then yes.

I'm not gay, and don't have problem with gay people. But I've heard about this same matter so many times that I need to know where exactly in the bible says that you are not to be gay! I don't think it is mentioned anywhere...

What does the Bible have to do with it? The question that's diverting so much attention from monumental screw ups in the Middle East isn't whether gay marriage should be allowed by the church, but whether it should be allowed by the States.
Personally, I have no problem with gay marriage.
I do have a problem with dipshits imposing their religious beliefs on me.

The bible also says that we should kill witches and that oral and anal sex are both ungodly and a severe sin. It also says that men and women should not have sex before marriage and after marriage they should only have sex when they are trying to conceive a child. Any sex in a marriage that is for enjoyment and not for procreating is a sin. We do not follow any of those rules so why follow that one in particular.

Are we living in a Theocracy?
Have we replaced the Constitution with the Bible?
