HE SAID THAT HE WILL PAY CHILD SUPPORT, BUT HE WANTS NOTHING TO DO WITH HER. WE ARE NOT MARRIED AND NEVER HAVE BEEN MARRIED. HE IS A GREAT FATHER TO HIS OTHER 3 CHILDREN. I DON'T WANT HIM TO DO IT.

if he signs over the rights he no longer has to pay child support you have to be in agreeance to the only reason i would say yes if you were married and your spouse wanted to adopt don't let him out of it so easily that's his child.

I don't know about your state, but in Oklahoma he is still legally binded to pay child support. Heck ALL dead beat dads would have to do is say "no I don't want to be a dad" and they would be off the hook. He can't just decide not to be a dad,it isn't that simple. My girls are nine and thier father is like that. Fine ,I say pay me the money and then go away, The pain of the rejection is addressed almost every june, but they know I love them and they have several substitute dads, more then thier friends. He MUST pay child support, and if that is all he ever does, then there is a small bit of peace there.

I don't think your X is thinking this out completely. HA HA I cant wait until your child grows up and is old enough to understand. Karma is sometimes a very wicked thing. He'll probably wish that the ground would open up and swallow him. Or as hes laying in his death bed when hes old and now useless (well more than he is now) this decision will be one he regrets and hates himself for. People don't realize that these beautiful babies grow up, and eventually become adults and have opinions and don't need your permission. Oh well his bad. Lots of luck.

I wouldn't think he needs your permission to do so, but you definitely need a lawyer, as you need legal documentation to collect child support. Don't force him to do anything....and don't make your daughter a part of someone's life who chooses for her not to be there. Pick up the void and let her have a great life without the drama.

If I'm not mistaken if he signs over all his rights he will not be required to pay child support. Call your department of social services. They will give you some help on this.

The right thing to do would be for him to be there for his daughter, but it's not legally essential. Why do u have to stay in Cleveland?

Don't sign anything and go to your legal services or DHR office. If he signs over his rights, he no longer is obligated to pay child support since it's equivalent to disowning the child. He can get the hell stepping....
just don't sign anything!

It all has to be done legally.
If it's not documented, it never happened.
