Yesterday my other computer just shut down, as if there was a power failure (but there wasn't). When it restarted, it said "Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this." Then it asks me to choose how to start it (Normally, Safe Mode, Last known good config, etc). No matter what option I select, it restarts and the same thing happens. There's no way to end the cycle.

There are some really nasty viruses that can cause this, but it's also likely to be a power supply problem. Can you boot into BIOS? If you can, try rearranging your boot order and booting Windows from the CD. If you can boot from CD, it's probably a virus, and you may need to use your last system restore point or reinstall windows. If you can't, try installing a new power supply. They run about 40-60 bucks.

It is most probable that a virus caused the continous restarting. It depends on what you were doing when it shut down. It could also be that your hard drive is in need of repair, depending on its capacity. If you know someone who is good with computers, ask them to take a look at it. Otherwise, take it to a repair shop and get it fixed.

Looks like there is a hardware conflict....i would suggest you to reinstall the OS & then check if it still restarts automatically.

You prolly have a virus/malware/etc. You have Junk, either that or you deleted something in the windows. A funny thing, try taking out your dial-up modem. I don't know why, but that fixes things sometimes.

It could also be the power supply going bad if it is a desktop computer. It could be overheating too for both a desktop or a laptop.

i don't know much about your problems.but if there is no other way to solve it,what u can do is reformat your partition that store your os then install a fresh copy of os.i think this can solve your problem if u do not have a hardware problem.

Sounds like you may have a boot sector virus, or you OS loader is corrupt.

In addition to the other suggestions.....
If you added any hardware then remove it. You may also try booting with other hardware disconnected (e.g. your printer).
