I was thinking that the Prez. was annoyed by the reporter who wears the shades to protect his eyes and that only after it was made known to him as to why the person was wearing them did he acknowledge his "mistake" and somewhat, civily, account for it. I believe that if the condition of the man's eyes were'nt made known to him, that he would have carried on with his impudence. Some news media is declaring as the Prez. is "playing it " that he was only joking.
What's your opinion ?
and
does it matter ?

Personally, I think the Prez was merely trying to make light of a situation. Once he realized why the reporter was wearing the shades, he made a personal call to the reporter to apologize. I also personally feel that a reporter without an eye problem who was wearing shades at a presidential press conference would be very unprofessional, and very disrespectful. In that case, it would have been perfectly acceptable for the Prez to call out the guy.

Is it disrespectful to ask the President a question with sunnies on? I hardly think so.
Was George Bush just playing? With George you are never sure. But I do think he recognised his error.
