Actually when you yawn that is a way of your body changing from an active status to an inactive status. This also applys the other way around, like when you are trying to wake up. The yawn is just a reset in your body chemistry's active status.

People yarn as a reflex for not getting enough oxygen. When you are tired you tend to have short breaths, thus your not taking in as much oxygen as your body/brain requires.

I think you mean yawn. It has something to do with a lack of oxygen going to our brain, so we yawn to reoxygenate the brain. If you do mean yarn.. I like to chat no matter how tired I am. lol.

During certain times and its different for different people our metabolism kicks down getting ready for sleep. It is also said that a lower oxygen level will cause you to yawn, but that doesn't explain why when you see someone else do it, you do it. I am yawning right now just talking about it,lol.
