if anything, it would be male that is unnecessary. Cloning requires eggs and gestation requires a womb. Men have neither.

News flash:
If you have even looked at the how the cloning process works, it requires a female's womb for the cloned embryo to grow in. So in reality, it is the male gender that could be somewhat obsolete in the future. (Several -80 degree freezers full of vials of sperm could potentially replace you.....lol).

Women will still be needed because even a clone needs to incubate for nine months in a womb. Males, on the other hand, will be obsolete.

That is quite incorrect. It is easier to clone females - no pesky and mostly useless Y-chromosome to mess with. So if a sex is going away, it'd most likely be the male sex.
That said - neither sex of the species homo sapians is going away any time soon. We're too fond of our current method of reproduction to give it up - and as you may be aware, our current most popular method of reproduction requires both sexes.

Sexual reproduction is one way for a species to adapt to a changing environment. Clones can not adapt. Cloning is a way for an individual to pass on his or her DNA but not a good thing for a species.
