the number three is sacred in many pagan religions, every thing you do can come back three fold on yourself. A spell interrupted or done improperly will rebound at three times the intended strength, things like that. It is not really a black magic thing, more just a magic thing in general. I used to study a lot of this, and i could probably have answered you better with quotes and things a few years ago, but it is the best a can do at the moment

I don't practice black magick, but the number 3 is very important to magickal practioners because it symbolizes the Lady and the Lord and the three stages of Them... among other things...DUN DUN DA!(Just Kidding=))

same answer from me, 3 and any mutiple of 3, like 6 and especially 9 are very important, they have power in both black magic and white magic.

A wicca or shaman (sorry only recomend white magic practioners) could tell you more.
