Proper thing to say when calling Human Resource?

When calling human resource about your job status on yur application and resume.....what is a proper good thing to say....i know you what say "good morning"....what would you say after that?

Just say I'm calling about the resume/application I submitted for the xxxxx position on such and such date. Could you tell me who I should talk to find out its status?

I would also ask if there are any questions regarding your expertise or qualifications you can answer.

Ask when they expect to fill the position.
