There is nothing over the counter that is approved for children his age. Limitting him to pedialyte ONLY may not be necessary, though, especially if the diarrhea has just started.
The "BRAT" diet can be helpful to bulk up the poop a little (stands for bananas, rice, applesauce, toast). Avoid a lot of juice (the excess sugar can make diarrhea worse. If he has diarrhea for more than a few days then limitting milk may also helo.
You are right that iron drops may constipate some children. Diarrhea is not common, though possible. Keep his doctor posted on the progress of his diarrhea. There are many different iron preparations available, some are tolerated better than others. There are also some stomach viruses (that cause vomitting and diarrhea) that go around this time of year.
Good Luck!

This is bad. Not that I am aware of but you really need to make sure that baby is hydrated or it can really harm him. To check to see if he is dehydrated push down his little thumb nail for a second and make sure it turns normal color fast. If it doesn't he may be getting dehydrated. This is called "Blanching" Just keep going with the pedialyte and if in another 24 hours go to your doctor or the hospital.

The Pedialyte for 24 hours...I know he is hungry, but that is what is going to work. It will keep the baby hydrated yet give his bowels a rest. It will be a rough 24 hours for you. Try to keep him and you as entertained as possible.

You can use the Pedialyte instead of water to make a bottle with formula. Pedialyte Pops work good too.

you need to listen to your docter give him pedilye or sprite no juices though they make it worse no milk cause milk makes it worse to try weak tea or gatorade
feed baby rice toast no butter bananas applesauce only after baby has been on fluids for a few hours babys tummy needs time to settle and if you give milk or juice or even regular food to baby then tummy wont settle and baby will end up with a sore bottom from the diareha
been there done this with all 4 of my kids and ill tell you it wont be easy and defienly not fun but it is best if you want baby better
oh yeah i forgot one more thing when baby starts to get better for the first 12 hours once the diarhea calms down use pedilyte to mix formula this helps baby and it works

I would avoid fruits and dairy and juices. Push the pedialite to avoid dehydration. Give him mild foods like toast and crackers. Be careful with iron because too much is toxic. Try to find the cause of the diarrhea to see if it is illness or reaction. Good luck.

Pedialyte and go to your doctor if it gets worst. My baby is 10 months old. She had diaherrea also and everything she took in she would either throw it right back out from her mouth or her bottom doesn't matter where but it came out.

Rice cereal is very binding. I found that with my two boys, if they had it any more than two or three days in a row, they'd actually get constipated! Try feeding it to him for breakfast, lunch and dinner (make it sorta thick, but not so thick he chokes on it) and give it to him with some bananas (either cut up or baby food bananas).
