when someone dies in hospital, why is their body left on their bed for hours.?

I was told by a friend that the person who had died was able to hear voices for up to six hours after death. Also why are they wrapped in a sheet before going to the morgue?

When a person dies they are completely dead. A person may be able to 'hear' for a minuet, but once the brain runs out of oxygen, it dies quickly. The reason that they are wrapped up in a sheet is so people in the hospital don't have to look at a dead person. I guess it is partly custom to cover a body.

they are left in the room once they are clean and prep until the family is contact for family viewing once this is done this is no late than 3 to 5 hours because the body can not remain at that temp that must be put in the freezer in the morge. A sheet is wrapped on the body before it goes to the morgue to keep fluids from leaking and hide the body while be transported to the morgue you dont want to see a dead body being pushed down the hall of a hospital,lol you know how many people will be horrified.

I worked in a nursing home, we never left some one there for hours. we would call the morgue. get the body ready for transportation (cleaned up and what not). But this is the first i have heard of that.

They are covered so people don't have to look at a dead body rolling down the hall.

Dead is dead. Your friend is probably hearing voices but not the dead person.

Maybe they are left in the bed while paperwork is done and room is made in the morgue. They are covered out of respect for them and for those around.

They are left until the paper work is completed. They cover them because it could be disturbing to other people when they are wheeling them to the morgue.
