Cancun, is probably the biggest resort destination in the world so it has just about anything you can imagine resort wise.
Every water sport that exists, any type of pampering you can imagine, the best international and of course Mexican restaurants, shopping, shopping shopping.
Unique to Cancun are the Mayan ruins at Chitzanitza a must see. The short ferry over to Isla de Muerjes for lunch is great.
Shopping and lunch in the old town of Cancun is also a great experience(very safe in the daytime not so at night)
All the finer hotels and restaurants have "potable" purified water that is safe to drink from the tap, but if not in a very good restaurant or bar stick to something in a bottle without ice.
Once you get settled in at your hotel just go down and visit the concierge and they can fill you in on all the wonderful things to do and just pick and chose what you want.
Have a great time.

Cancun is definitely an start gate to your desire holiday just like this place hotelbye so you can get there. Cancun provides state-of-the-art hotel facilities on the list of coolest clubs, bars, and centers just a few legs far from the many beautiful beaches in the world. One of many places you need to see may be the Isla Mujeres. Here, the great breezes blow over the island each day and evening and here you will relish: the snorkelling, the diving, the swimming with dolphins, the remote beaches for moonlight hikes and individual conversations, and results of waterfront restaurants surrounded by great shopping and wonderful organic scenery. If you're buying a Cancun destination place to relax, Isla Mujeres is the spot to come.

First, there is bottled water everywhere so no worries about drinking.
1) Captain Hooks Dinner Cruise - very good food and very good show. Cruise last about 3-4 hours. I recommend getting on the green boat.
2) Maroma Ranch -- They offer a variety of activities there. It is about an hour bus ride south of cancun (if you book it dont worry, its an air conditioned coach liner). You can horseback ride, snorkel, ATV tour, Speed boats, deep sea fishing. Since its away from "civilization" it is very quiet and serene. I will go back there everytime I go from now on.
3) There are many bars and resturants but I would highly recommend visiting Senor Frogs.
4) Of course the beach is given.
5) Coral ***** - That is a good little flea market on the northern end of the hotel zone. Tip: walk around the outside not the middle hall...that way you only get "attacked" by the shop owners from one side, not both.
6) Finally - this one is kinda wierd...but hey its vacation. Tony Romas...its at the Grand Caribe Real. The have the best mozzeralla sticks I have ever had. So if you just go for those, they are not worth missing.
Oh, and dont forget to go to Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville so you can buy his lost shaker of salt.

I've never been to Cancun so I can't help you with that. But I have been to Acapulco and must say...DO NOT DRINK THE WATER...I ate lettuce from a restaurant that obviously was rinsed in water and got very sick. I do hear though that if you are staying at a resort the water is usually filtered and so it's o.k. to drink but if I were you I would make sure first. Have fun!!!

If you're on a resort, you CAN drink the water. If you leave the resort, look out! Stay clear of it and drink only bottled water. Go to Xel-Ha...Oh my gosh, the BEST snorkeling. My dh and I saw huge tuna, 100 sting rays, baracuda, the MOST gorgeous fish you've ever seen. We also took a snorkeling tour with Fury Catamaran...GREAT fun! - 3 stops, ended on private island for dinner and drinks. Also, Cozumel has great snorkeling. Have fun, it's a blast!
Also, I thought Chitzinitzah (sp?) was overrated...3 hour bus ride for a HOT, LONG tour of ruins...hmmm, not MY cup of tea.

We're going to Cancun this coming Sunday! We're planning to spend most of our time at our resort (The Blue Bay Getaway) .
We'll probably take a ferry trip to Isla and rent a golf cart. Maybe take the bus to town and visit Market 28.
Hope you have a lovely trip and wish us "Bon Voyage" !
