Perhaps I'm partial being a huge Buckeye fan, but I would vote for Ohio State. Texas and USC lost their offenses, Penn State only has a defense to rely on, and Notre Dame maybe, but they didn't look too impressive at the end of '05. The Bucks have a strong offense coming back and their defense, even though our LBs are all gone, is always tough. Here's my top 5:
1) Ohio State
2) Texas (gotta at least give the returning champs some love)
3) Notre Dame
4) USC
5) Penn State (or Oregon/UCLA)

What do you think?

1. Ohio State (even though there defense is gone the offense should avg over 35 ppg, and we all know how talented the up and comers are, if teh D can give them enough to go 4-0 they'll click and run the tables)

2. Notre Dame (can't count out Charlie Weiss and that offense with just about everyone returning)

3. Texas (No VY, but Mack Brown always reloads)

4. Oklahoma (remember Adrian Peterson? Yeah he'll be back and better than ever)

5. USC (The Men of Troy have huge hurdles if they want to make it back to the NC Game, but Pete Carroll has a lock on the PAC-10 and no one's going to stop them)

I would like to point out that West Virginia HAS to be in the talk here, but they do play in a weak conference which will hurt them in the BcS standings...

I disagree with your assessment of Penn State's lack of offense.
Anthony Morelli, despite his lack of experience was the #2 recruit at QB in the nation out of HS behind the clown at Michigan. They have 2 senior running backs almost the entire O-line and a young receiving corp that put up good numbers as true fresman.
Williams is every bit as fast if not faster than Tedd Ginn Jr.
The defense speaks for itself. The buckeyes couldn't move the ball against the Nittiany Lions last year. The year before they beat a very disorganzized Penn State team 6 - 4 ....two safeties. Who gets 2 safeties? That's with 2 Michael Robinson INT's in the endzone.

without a doubt, The Ohio State Buckeyes. troy smith is the best all aroung quaterback in the country. antonio pittman is a solid back, but they also have the best freshman in the nation in chris wells backing up pittman. he might even be the starter as the year goes on. ted ginn jr, fastest guy on the football field at all times. about the linebacking core, ohio state always has freaks to fill in with same caliber as last years trio. texas has no chance. west virginia can be scary. usc has nothing left. notre dame has a quaterback and nothing else.

Not USC. Mr. Bush is going to get them on suspension and their QB will be in jail.

UCLA? Are you kidding?

Texas? Tough to be without their #1 guy.

ND? You must be Irish!

Ohio State will beat Penn State!
