Yes, ovulation kits work. Women only ovulate 2-3 days a month. Basal temp can be elusive if you are running a fever for another reason but didn't know it. Ovulation kits are just as accurate as pg tests.

They do work, the one that I always use is Clearblue Ovulation, it's just the one or two lines test, not the digital, so it's cheaper and just as easy if not easier in my opinion. I used them for three months before I got pregnant but then I had a miscarriage last month soooo now I'm using them to AVOID getting pregnant. There are 7 tests in a box and right around the 10th day after the first day of your last period you start taking one a day or one every other day and as the "light" line gets darker and darker, you know you are getting closer to ovulation. When the "lighter" line becomes as dark or darker than the second already existing line on the test stick, you know you are ovulating or will ovulate in the next 24 hours. Really super easy!!

They work and will work better when used in combination with any other ovulation detection method, if you are regular, it should be really easy to catch ovulation. If your period is messed up, it will be harder and more expensive being that you will have to keep testing every day and like 5 tests are around $20. You can also try website below, I use Ovulite (saliva microscope), and when I put my info into this site and it calculates my ovulation, its always the same day as my microscope detects!! good luck I use Answer or Equate found at walmart

An ovulation kit will predict when you're about to ovulate, whereas BBT will tell you when you have ovulated. They're accurate if you use them right. They're also cheap and easy for the companies to make, so consider buying them at a dollar store, etc, they're just as accurate and not so expensive.

they work but are expensive and not all that practical
they are best used with BBT unless you are going to do them every day for the whole month
