I put UK Isps into 3 categories:---

1. BT is expensive, but good, as they provide the physical lines.

2. Bulldog, and AOL have bad reputation for customer service, such as they continue to bill you after you cancel your account with them.

3. Other than these 3, shop around, and take your pick! Note that some rural areas do not have cable, and you need to rely on a BT line to have your broadband on. Non-BT isps pay BT for use of their line.

Most companies who market broadband in the UK resell the BT ADSL products. So to a large extent you should choose them on price and customer service. Beware of "free" offers - they are usually tied to something else like a landline telephone service. ADSL needs a landline telephone to work at all.

Exceptions to this are LLU providers like Bulldog (owned by C&W). There are other ways of getting broadband, e.g. cable, short range radio or satellite but the latter is expensive and generally only used when nothing else is available.

Hi there.

1) If NTL lies in ur area then they are cheap and with so many good packages and they rank 1 for residential broadband. Limited Download 30GB

2) BullDog ... takes 15 -20 days but amazing schemes comes with 8mbps and 16 mbps lines now .. They can apply for BT Line on behalf of you.

3) AOL is having good support and Use same backbone of BT but they give unlimited download same as BullDog where as BT doesnt ..

I hate BT coz I had that connection and they didnt give support and their connection wasnt working and they charged me £80 for no service and cancellation took hell lotta time ..

If you have still doubt then contact me..

Regards

Rajan
