Well, I'd say the opening parapgraph is pretty bad, the first page is utterly dire and it kinda goes downhill from there and falls away a bit at the end.
But that's not the point. The point is that nobody ever went bust by understimating the stupidity of the public.

I did read a British newspaper that reviewed (and slated) the film, and in doing so mentionned the novel unfavourably. It criticised Dan Brown's writing style and characterisation, and said the prose was thick and dull. I can't remember which paper it was! It was something snooty though.
I don't see what all the fuss is about. It's not a 'great work of literature'; just like Harry Potter, it's just a bit of fun. Still, as long as it's entertaining people, we should just let them have their enjoyment.

Oh thank god - I thought I was the only person who thought the book was a crashing bore. The worst thing about it is the media treating it as history, and for months before the movie came out, running specials about 'the religious and historical significance' of the book. Well, for god's sake, you might as well discuss the religious and historical significance of Harry Potter.

It's not complete rubbish, as trash novels go it's a good hour's worth of tube boredom allaying...
And yes, I remember papers not endorsing it, I think probably before it was released. Seems so long ago now - sigh...
