Dogs are my favorite pet.
Why?
They are the most interactive pet that you can get. You pet them, play with them, teach them tricks, etc. They will help you guard the house by barking at strangers.
Burglars will not go into a home with a barking dog because it attracts to much attention. They are actually safer going into a home with an alarm system because no one pays attention to those things.
To top it off dogs give unconditional love to their owners and they are always happy to see you when you come home!
Some dogs are used for special needs like seeing eye dogs and many other uses but most are just someones pet and that in it self is like emotional therapy after a hard days work...

This is a toughie. I love both my ferret and my snake. I've also had birds, which I adore. And of course, a dog. If I had to choose, I think I'd have to go with a dog or a ferret. Ferret's would be my top choice due to the fact that they are loads of fun. The only reason I'd choose a dog is because they bond so much more and are filled with much more emotion. It's just the way I see it.

Rocks
You don't need to house break them...
They will warm up if you cuddle them...
They come in all shapes and sizes...
They don't tear up stuff, poo on the carpet, require any up keep and you don't have to feed or take them to the vet.
Can be useful, if large enough, as a weapon during a home invasion so thats sorta light having a guard-rock.
You can buy one..but they are also free...
Just paint a little face on it...glue on a tuft of hair (yarn or otherwise) and name it...it won't talk back but you can conversate with your pet rock and have hours of fun. ~J~ <><

I have two really.....horses and dogs, if you consider a horse a pet. They both are easy to teach, fascinating, and loyal creatures. I grew up around them so maybe this is more of a bias answer, but those are my favorite. I tried to teach my dog how to ride on my horse with me, and he almost got it, but I don't know if the horse wasn't his fave pet, or if he was just scared of heights. Who knows?

DOG -- they give their lives for you !! Unquestioned and unselfish love for you. My Alsatian's dedication for me almost brought a tear to my eyes. A WONDERFUL God's creation !!! If you have a dog you are never lonely. Would you believe me if I told you that my Alsatian, whom I called 'Nero' understood my jokes ? He reacted jokingly to my joking with him....He also knew when I was sad or angry. As to his size... Imagine the biggest possible Alsatian you could see... that was my Alsatian... I fed him the BEST from a very early age.

a rabbit or a dog. a rabbit is fluffy cute and fun to play with. a dog is fun to play with but can go places and are like human friends only in a dog form. they feel emotions and get to know you
