The Salvation Army is definitely a great place to get some awesome vintage stuff, from antiques and collectibles to vintage clothing. It is mixed with junk, so you need to look around. You can also check out consignment stores, other thrift stores, yard sales, flea markets, and yes, ebay. Some people don't realize what they're selling on there, so sometimes you can get a good find. Also, don't forget to get close to grandparents and other elderly family/friends. They often give some really cool stuff to you.

In a previous life I owned a vintage clothing store. My best source was church rummage sales. Try the older neighborhood churches and avoid the trendy mega-churches. The older the building, the older the church members, the older the items for sale. The prices were VERY cheap, quantitly was plentiful. Be sure to get to the sale early and wait for the doors to open.

Don't use ebay..really..its crap..and if its not crap you wouldnt be getting it so cheap.. Go to garage sales or estate sales.. Estate sales usually have great things that people are trying to get rid of before leaving the country or family members dying.

Freecycle, flea markets, yard sales, second hand stores, etc. You must learn how to suggest a smaller amount than what they are asking for it. Many times you will succeed.
