I'm in the same position you are. I cannot STAND my hubby's ex, and the very idea of her setting foot on my property makes me crazy.
That being said, your opinion is not the important one here - it's the child's. The 9 year old will not understand why his mommy can't come into his house, regardless of how you explain it to him. However, it is okay to make certain rooms off limits to ALL visitors (not just mom) - and make sure he knows which ones.
She's just trying to get under your skin - and by being bothered by her actions is letting her win. Just smile, be civil, and pretend everything is right as rain. It'll bug the heck out of her. Good luck!

I understand you don"t like the ex wife. But, you knew he was married once before when you met your husband. I'm sorry but this women is always gonna be part of your life as long as your married to your husband. Why don't you all try to get along. I myself have many step children. It was real hard at first. Believe me I felt just like you do right now. Things got better over time. I had to decide to either walk away or deal with it. That was 14 years ago. I had decided to deal with it and I'm glad I did. Your gonna have to make the same decision... Will you walk away or decide to deal with it??? Thinking being just courtious isn't gonna work....you'll see. Good luck in which ever way you choose!

I can only imagine that would really suck; but I think your kinda screwed with out making yourself look like a meanie; which personally I think you're in the right very intrusive. Now a possible solution may when she's picking up the 9 year old reason I believe she's there maybe drop the child off; or say hay we'll be here come and get him neutral midway location "for convience"

Install a dead bolt lock high on the door so the 9 y/o can't reach it. When the ex knocks, you open the door and control who comes into your house and who doesn't. If hubby protests, tell him he won't have a problem with your ex marching right in, right? Because you can make that happen.

Isn't she the ex?? And you are in the new house, aren't you!!! You should be happy!!! Just don't let her in any further than the living room or kitchen next time she comes in!!! Does the son live there??? Have patience, if he does.
