Economics focuses on the study of how society allocates its scarce resources. Much of economics is related to other social sciences, as all social sciences are intrinsically related. Many of the theories that are popular in economics apply or sometimes come from other social sciences. Political science and economics are closely related, and application of choice, preferences, and game theory in general apply to both fields. Psychology gave Economics the Prisoner's Dilemma (popular in industrial organization) amongst other theoretical devices. Sociology and the study of people many times is predicated upon a study of their economic systems. History and economics merge many times, and economic history is a important sub field in both areas. Anthropology has uncovered much about how economic systems have developed through discoveries of currencies and ancient trade. Economics is a very important field that has many important two way connections to the other social sciences.
