If any other country of Great Britain was in the World Cup I would support them along with England.

Even if England was in the final with one of the other countries within GB and lost I would be dissapointed but would still be happy that another country from GB had won.

Why can't the other Countries of GB be the same.

A few do, and well done to them for doing so. When Scotland made the tournament & England didn't (I forget the year, maybe 78), most English were cheering for the scots.

It seems those that can't be bothered doing the same for us are just sore losers & bad sports.

Watch the olympics and then you will see. If there is a Scottish athlete and they won a race the commentator says Wow Great Britain has won. If the athlete lost they say Scotland lost. The English think it is all about them, they dont support the other Countries in the United Kingdom. And I agree I am sick of this World Cup and wish England would shut up about bloody 1966.

its called Patriotic. I support Scotland cause im Scottish. English support England. The media brings out this old "hatred " thing at certain times but its simply not true. We are not all English haters holding a century old grudge.

And Dizzymooo there is plenty of English people living up here too.

By the way do Arsenal supporters sing for Man U when they are not playing? Think not.

Because they've got their own team even though they haven't qualified for anything at all lately.

But I've seen Scottish fans root for England in the past. In 1996 they cheered when England went 4-1 up against Holland. The fact that 5-1 would have let Scotland qualify wasn't at all relevant;)

The greatest rivalry always seems to exist between groups with the closest proximity to each other, or the greatest similarities. Apparently by differentiating from others we establish our (group)identity. Look at the rivalry in football derby's! Although I'm sure that history also plays a part, England might not be viewed in the best light all things considered.

Because England is the only country in GB that ruled over the others. People cant let go of the past n no matter what we do so many people will keep hating us for something our ancestors did. MOVE ON ALREADY!!!

Scotland feels that it should be self-governed. There is a traditional animosity towards the British, and Scottish people feel that the Stone Of Scone should be returned to Scotland. Bonnie Prince Charlie didn't help matters.

It is due to England invading and taking over Scotland. People hold a grudge for a very long time. Look at Eurovision, and how countries vote .

There's a lot of hostility towards England from some people in Scotland, some of it historic. They feel that the general character of the English is what made them such enemies in the past.

Its because there is a rivalry. Most British people want another British country to do well as long as its not against their own country. The one exception is England where traditionally people want them to lose.
