I don't find mummies frightening, but then they're part of my job. They do stink like you would not believe though. Honestly - it took several washings to get the smell out of my clothes after excavating some animal mummies a few years ago. And even the museum specimens don't smell wonderful.
And they can be rather creepy looking. Nothing to really be afraid of though.

A lot of people are frightened by dead bodies - mummified or otherwise. The sort of pop psychology explanation would be that they remind us of our own mortality. I've never been all that bothered by feelings of fear with dead bodies though - skeletons or mummies.

Human mummies from Egypt were simply meant as a preserved home for the elements making up what most Europeans would call a "soul" and nothing more sinister than that, so there's really nothing to be frightened of. They don't suddenly come to life. And it's very unlikely you'll ever encounter one outside a controlled environment like a museum or some of the tombs in the Valley of the Kings that are open for tourists.

The mummies don't scare me. But all the bacteria and stuff that comes with them.... Not to mention the bugs and junk in the tomb. But I think mummies are awesome. AND, if you have a well preserved mummy in a well preserved tomb then you won't have too much bacteria.

I am not such a coward to be afraid of the mummies lying in the pyramids thousands of miles away from India. Be bold like me.

No, and they are useful for learning about ancient Egypt. There is evidence that bacteria, fungus, etc., present might be hazardous, so wear a breathing mask and gloves if tyou ever dissect one. By teh way, I'm American, but Calcutta (Kolkata) born!

No, mummies are dead and, if reanimated, would be very easy to outrun.
