The foundation of your question is false. The American soldiers are not killing anyone to achieve any degree of pleasure. America targets those who are terrorists. In so doing it is possible that civilians will be injured or killed. Unlike other countries, if an American soldier does something outside of policy, they will be arrested and if convicted, they will be punished.
That having an armed people (vis a vis the United States) is bad totally is a misunderstanding. In the areas with the highest per capita legal gun ownership, crime is very low. Deaths by gun in the United States are primarily by criminals or accident. Accidental death by gun drops relative to an increase of gun safety instruction. Studies have demonstrated that annually there are about 2,000,000 incidents where an armed citizen have saved lives.

Where? When? If you're talking about the Haditha incident, the truth (real truth, not Al-Jazeerah 'truth') is slowly coming out that it was not a massacre, was not murder, but that the terrorist insurgents were using women and children as human shields.
While I'm sure there have been some isolated unique incidents of a troop doing wrong, that is almost bound to happen when you have so many troops in a war situation in a foreign land. This has happened in every army ever fielded in history. What you do is punish the individuals and carry on, and not whine and cry as if it is something new or unusual.

In warfare there are always an element of soldiers who are responsible for this type of occurance. This is a situation where the psycopath can operate at will. On the other hand when dealing with urban warfare and an opposition that operates in towns, cities and villages civilian casualties are unavoidable.
The other option is to stand in the open call out your enemy and prepair to be shot for your effort.
The only way to avoid this type of situation is to stay out of war. Just understand that a poorly trained local army will kill a lot more innocents especially of they are from a different ethnic group.
The whole thing is just so sad. Human being can become monsters in certain conditions.

No, it would not be fair for anyone to die for the simple pleasure of another. Like back when Saddam was killing Iraq people for his pleasure. Remember that? Wasn't too long ago.

Americans just like to stay at war with everyone,,look at the gun laws in their country,,they shoot hundreds of their own people every day,,its tragic.
But they think they will be a "super power",, they will destroy themselves.
