I don't know any Turkish people but I have never heard anything negative about them, and would be pleased to meet them. I think that Turkey is an extremely important ally to the US but I don't think they are happy with us right now. Turkey is extremely important as a link between Eastern and Western countries. I don't know much about their holidays but I know they have emphasized the arts in their culture and that they hold many important music festivals.

I have nothing against turkish people. But Turkey is a strange country. It is actually Asian but pretends to be European. It is a militaristic country (possessing the most powerful army in the area, an army that frequently intervenes in the government's affairs, that oppresses minorities etc.) but still Turkey pretends to be a Democrarcy. There are many greek and byzantine antiquities in Turkey (a country founded just half a millennium ago in an area where till then other ancient people had lived, for entire millennia) but Turks rarely mention the true origin of these antiquities, pretending they are turkish!
There is too much "pretending" in Turkey. When this pretending will be lift I will love the country as much as I love the turkish friends I have.

About the country itself, I hear it has some very beautiful mountainous areas. It also has a history behind the land. A lot of battles have happened in the area. About the people, as in every group there are good and bad. Some of the new generation is still brain washed from the old generation as to what happened in the early 1900's, but some of the new generation is open to hear a different version than what was taught to them about their history. Especially since some of their own older generation tells the different version.

Mmh, turkey. Too bad we're having tuna-salad tonight :P
I think of turkey the same as of any other country I haven't been to. Reather a neutral thinkhin of them. Turkish people IMO are the same as every other person: strong in groups, weak alone.

Never been there, but I'm planning to go. It always reminds me of belly dancing which is really popular in Croatia.
And it reminds me of Osman Empire. It had great influence on my country (language, food).
My uncle visited Istanbul and said that's whole other world and that's the reason I would like to visit Turkey.

I prefer chicken. Oh, now I see what you mean.
I met a lady the other day who was shopping in my store- she said she was from Turkey. She was really nice. That's all I know. I don't know anything about the country.
