We had a very large problem with ants when we bought our house. We tried a couple of different ant killers and nothing was working. Someone suggested going around the outside of our house with salt. They said that ants would not pass through a salt line. I thought it was odd, but figured what the heck, tried the more expensive stuff already.
I bought 5 bottles of table salt which cost less than $2.00. My husband went all the way around the outside of the house. Within a few days the ants inside the house were dead and we didn't get any more. This was last year. They are just starting to come back, so time for the salt again, but obviously it worked!

I think Terro ant baits work the best because they work on such a variety of ants. You put out the baits and the next day you see an huge amount feeding there then the next coupla days it diminshes and then nothing. They feed it to the queen too. I think it's great you just have to be careful where you put the baits so pets and children don't get to it. The important thing is getting one or two to find the bait then they tell the others.

Diaozodin is a granular poison for ants for outside the perimeter of your house. It doesn't disolve overnight where you get to do it numerous times.Check your local Home Depot. Do not put mulch around your house it attracts ants and many other bugs.

Dump a few bags of raisins each week at the edge of your property...to the ants go there and not in your house. They love raisins.

MAKE SURE YOUR HOUSE IS CLEAN AND NO FOOD IS OUT. WE HAVE THEM BAD IN TEXAS SO WE USE THAT ORTHO MAX SPRAY IN THE HOUSE AND THE POWDER IN THE YARD. IF YOU SEE ANT HOLES IN YOUR YARD YOU CAN ALSO USE POWERED LAUNDRY DETERGENT.
