I beleive 12 months but I used tap water for juice from around 10 months. As long as the container it's going into is clean I don't see the problem to be honest, their immune systems are developing all the time. Might be worth consulting a health visitor though. I don't think you can give them bottled mineral water though.

If you live in a first world country, you can start using tap water after six months, but if you live in an old building with a bad water supply or in the second or third world, you have to boil it for a year.

Tap water is fine at any age, so long as it is treated (in other words, city water). Boiling water is no longer necessary these days unless the water department recommends it due to a water line break or contamination, or if the water comes from an untreated well and has never been tested by the health department.

I am a nutritionist
if your tap water if city water it is safe from the time the baby can drink ANY water (6 months)
if it is well water and you have it tested regularly same answer
if it is well water and not tested regularly you should wait till the child is 2 years old
bottled baby or nucery water is the single most useless product on the market! the only time you need to use purchased water for an infant is if you have a bad well

My little boy is 11 months, he has been having tap water since 8 months.
I worked on the principal that as he was crawling and putting all sorts in his mouth then he would be ok, as you cant sterilise everything.
However i do not give him alot of tap water, he also has cooled boiled water sometimes too.

My two sons (27 months and 11 months) have been drinking tap water from birth. Their pediatrician recommends it. If you have a well, I believe you're supposed to either boil the water or give them bottled, but if you have city water, it's fine. Neither of them have suffered as a result of drinking tap water. I'm firmly convinced that my older son is a genius. :D

i'm getting the position you're coming from, in spite of the undeniable fact that reckoning on the age of the infant, I have 4 and till a minimum of 10 months I boil the tap water and that i do not purchase water. I dont imagine that talking about third international countries is a competent case because toddlers die from contaminated water each and each and every of the time. 2 many years in the past human beings didnt purchase water yet they did boil it, and water has alot extra chemical substances in it now, yet I do agree that children ought to not be completly clinical institution grade invironment for there immune equipment.

In my 'birth to 5' book it says you can give it from 6 months. my daughter is 9 months old and i did that with her! and to be honest how much water does a baby really drink....
I still boil water to make her bottles though.
