Here are a few I thought fit the bill...

George Allen
"People of mediocre ability sometimes achieve outstanding success because they don't know when to quit. Most men succeed because they are determined to."

Calvin Coolidge
"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent."

Dale Carnegie
"Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no help at all."

Aristotle
"I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies; for the hardest victory is the victory over self."

Thomas Jefferson
"I'm a great believer in luck, and I find that the harder I work, the more I have of it."

William J.H. Boetcker
"Never mind what others do; do better than yourself, beat your own record from day to day, and you are a success."

Education will not (take the place of persistance); the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'press on' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

"I have little to offer thee," whispered the butterfly,
"But, all that I am is yours."

I wrote this poem about determination, perseverance and self-discipline. A butterfly has the ability to change (it is first a caterpillar), and that ability to change is all we humans have. It sounds easy, but it requires all these elements you speak of here to achieve.
